Hush, little baby, don't say a word
And never mind that noise you heard!
It's just the beasts under your bed
In your closet, in your head!
-"Enter Sandman", Metallica

Beleth, Djinn Demon Princess of Nightmares, was once the Angel of Fear. She Fell during Lucifer's Rebellion, and ever since then has waged war on humans and celestials alike in the Marches. Some of the elements of her Word are familiar to Habbalah: humans who can be broken should be broken. But Beleth doesn't entertain any fantasies about being on Heaven's side; she does it out of spite. And why shouldn't she?

Beleth is also known as the former lover of Blandine, the melancholy Archangel of Dreams.

Terror is Beleth's business. She hits mortals when they've retired to their beds for rest from the day. Her servitors don't stop there, and often perform follow-up work when their victims wake. Although Saminga wins on the sheer scale of slaughter, Beleth gives him a run for his money in terms of the sadistic infliction of horror. Like Shakespeare's Caesar said, cowards die many times.

It's not immediately obvious what servants of Nightmares would be doing in Advincula. But hey, everyone dreams.

Relations with Other SuperiorsEdit

Beleth doesn't play nice, and counts no one as an ally. She's moody and dangerous, and is not a reliable business partner. She will sometimes work with Kronos, Malphas, and Asmodeus. She's also got her claws in a number of ethereal beings: one consequence of Uriel's devastation of the Marches was that many weakened survivors ran to Hell for shelter.
